About Us - Introducing Ourselves

Webscaping is a 'family firm'. All of the work on your site will be done by a mother and daughter team.

Katrina Jones is the qualified web developer in the team. She was awarded a first class honours degree for her undergraduate studies in Computing Science at Aston University in June 2014. In December 2015 she was awarded a Masters in Software Engineering with distinction and she is currently doing research at Aston University for a PhD and studying for a Masters in Education which should both be finished in December 2019.

Her main area of expertise is programming. Java is her principal programming language, but she also has experience in XHTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL/SQL, C, Ada, Actionscript 3, Lisp, Haskell, Prolog, OpenGL, Spark, Dojo and Python.

Her study of human computer interaction has made her aware of the need for pages layouts that result in a user's intuitive response to obtain the information available within a site.

She has considerable graphics skills and is proficient in using Adobe Fireworks, Photoshop and Flash to produce and manipulate images.

A strong believer in the idea that 'the best way to learn a skill is to make use of it' she has set sail on this business venture, with a dual purpose in mind:

  • to apply the knowledge she has learned at University in a real world situation in order to expand her skill-base and hone those skills to a high standard.
  • to produce innovative, original work for clients that satisfy their requirements and her need to employ her creative flair.

Lynda Jones is assisting her in this endeavour.

A retired physics teacher and seasoned amateur website designer, she has had experience in writing cyber-material for almost twenty years.

Her site Cyberphysics was voted the most popular physics revision site in the Institute of Physics Web Awards.

She brings her long term experience of operating an educational website to the mix.
